For driving a pipe with a diameter of 40 mm, we have designed a complete roller unit from standard wheels. At the top is the pipe drive roller: the basis is our standard wheel 690KFL/150/50/50/20 – Vulkollan® tread on a steel hub, Ø 150 × 50 mm, hub length 50 mm, bore 20 mm. Instead of a bearing, the wheel receives a custom-made flange with keyway, which is bolted to the hub with four screws. This means the wheel sits positively on the drive shaft. The tread has been turned concave to a radius of 20 mm, so that it encloses the pipe across its full width.

Two counter rollers guide the pipe from below. They are also made from standard wheels: standard wheel 690KFL/050/40/40/10, Ø 50 × 40 mm, bore 10 mm, with ball bearing. The treads are likewise turned concave to a radius of 20 mm. The pipe is thus guided three times between the drive roller and the counter rollers; the contact pressure is distributed across the entire tread width.

The background: when rotating, conveying or feeding pipes – for example on welding, cutting, test or polishing systems – the wheel must drive the pipe reliably without crushing or marking it. A cylindrical wheel only touches the pipe along a line; a concave Vulkollan® tread makes full-surface contact, transmits more force and protects the pipe surface. Instead of a custom wheel body, we have used proven standard wheels and only adapted the tread and drive.

Variants: We turn the tread radius to suit your pipe diameter; wheel diameter, width, bore and keyway according to customer specification. Drive optionally via clamp hub, gear wheel, chain wheel or timing pulley. Counter rollers also available with bolt or mountable as swivel/fixed castor. Tread optionally in Vulkollan®, polyurethane in various hardnesses or rubber.
