Vulkollan® drive roller Ø 50 × 40 mm with bolted sprocket – steel core, ball bearing, bore 12 mm
For a customer in mechanical engineering, we have designed this Vulkollan® wheel as a driven wheel. The basis is a compact wheel Ø 50 × 40 mm with a steel core, on which the Vulkollan® tread is cast. The wheel runs on a ball bearing with 12 mm bore. At the end face, a sprocket is fastened directly to the steel core with three screws – this turns the running wheel into a drive wheel that can be driven by a roller chain.
The background: In many machines, workpieces, plates, profiles or webs must be conveyed, advanced or positioned by means of wheels. A freely running wheel is not sufficient for this – it must be driven. Instead of an elaborate custom wheel body with an integrated toothed ring, we combined a proven Vulkollan® wheel with a separate, bolted sprocket. If required, the sprocket can be released, replaced or exchanged for a different number of teeth without changing the wheel itself.
Design:
• Wheel diameter 50 mm, width 40 mm
• Tread made of Vulkollan®, cast onto steel core
• Steel core turned, with bearing seat
• Ball bearing, bore 12 mm
• Sprocket made of steel, bolted to the core at the end face with 3 screws
• Sprocket replaceable, wheel remains on the axle
Your advantages:
• Vulkollan®: high traction, very high load capacity, wear-resistant, low rolling resistance
• Grippy tread – ideal for advancing workpieces without slip and without damaging the surface
• Chain drive: positive engagement, synchronised and insensitive to contamination
• Compact design for confined installation spaces
• Sprocket and wheel can be replaced separately
Variants: Diameter, width, bore, bearing type (ball bearing, plain bearing, needle bearing), number of teeth and pitch of the sprocket as well as Vulkollan® hardness are manufactured according to customer specifications. Instead of a sprocket, a gear wheel for spur gear drives, a timing belt pulley or a keyway in the core for direct shaft drive is also possible.
Typical areas of use: feed and transport wheels in machines, packaging and woodworking machines, edge banding machines, conveyor and feeding systems, special-purpose machine construction.
Do you need a driven wheel for your machine? Send us the diameter, width, bore, desired drive type (chain, gear wheel, timing belt, shaft) and the operating conditions – we will check manufacture and provide you with a quotation.
