Swivel Caster
Do not exceed maximum load capacity per caster – distribute total load evenly across all casters
Only use on even, clean surfaces – unevenness, rails, or gaps can cause jamming
Never use swivel casters as the sole attachment – always combine with a sufficient number of fixed casters (Recommendation: 2 swivel + 2 fixed casters)
Regular visual inspection for wear, cracks or damage to the wheel and swivel housing
Do not use on inclines or declines without additional securing
Regularly check the tightening torque of the mounting screws
Fixed Caster
Observe direction of travel – fixed casters are not pivotable and must not be subjected to lateral loads
Avoid lateral impact loads – this can lead to rim or bearing breakage
Always use in combination with swivel casters
Check the mounting for sufficient load-bearing capacity of the substructure
Regularly check the ball bearing for smooth running
Swivel Caster with Total Lock (Brake)
Always engage the total lock when the vehicle is stationary – especially on inclined surfaces
Never engage the total lock under load – first stop, then brake
Do not use the total lock as a permanent load holder on inclines – only as a safety measure on flat surfaces
Regular functional check of the braking mechanism – the brake must engage and release without effort
If the total lock is defective, replace the caster immediately – do not continue to operate
Operate the total lock only with your foot – never with tools or by kicking against the wheel
